China Scholarship Council held Education Exhibition in Kenya

2007 China Education Exhibition opened on October 16, 2007 in the Nairobi, capital of Kenya. Mr. Xuebing, the charge daffaires of Chinese Embassy in Kenya, Mz. Zhang xiuqin Secretary-General of the China Scholarship Council, Mr. Muweilia, the vice Minister of Kenya Education Ministry , Mr. MuBeiqie, President of Academy of Humanities and Social Science of the Nairobi University, the representatives of the 28 Chinese Colleges and Universities, and the Kenyan government officials, College teachers and students news medias, altogether more than 500 people, attended the opening ceremony of the education exhibition.

At the opening ceremony speech,  charge daffaires Xue Bing recalled the friendly and cooperative relations between China and Kenya, he said China has always attached importance to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Kenya in the field of education, to support education and training of Kenyan human resources , and would  actively implement the agreements from China-Africa Cooperation Forum Beijing Summit, expand the cooperation in such areas as education, provide more scholarships to Kenyan and other African countries and  take effective measures to help African students to study in China at their own expenses. He said the China Education Exhibition of 28 Chinese Colleges and Universities organized by the China Scholarship Council would effectively promote the understanding of Kenyan to China higher education.

Zhang xiuqin, Secretary-General, in his speech described in detail various information about the China Scholarship Council,  the status quo of higher education in China, the objective of holding the China Education Exhibition, she  hoped that the exhibition would promote mutual understanding in educational circles, attract more Kenyan students to study in China, and promote friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

Mr. Muweilia, the vice minister of Kenya Education Ministry expressed the appreciation and thanks on behalf of the Kenyan Government for China’s long-term selfless help, ,especially in the field of human resources training. He spoke highly of China in the provision of the Chinese Government scholarships, the establishment of Confucius Institute in Nairobi, personnel training and exchanges. He encouraged more Kenyan students to study in China through various channels to learn the expertise of the Strive, to learn the importance of Chinas economic take-off experience, to study Chinas extensive and profound culture and traditions, to promote the socio-economic development of Kenya, and further contribute to promoting friendship between the fair. After the opening ceremony, the guests attending the official ribbon-cutting for educational outreach and visited the booth of the various participating institutions.

The two-day exhibition has attracted many visitors. And the local media has reported a lot of the exhibit. The exhibition  plays a good role in deepening the public and the communitys understanding on China, enlarging the image and influence of China higher education.
